With its 536.969 m2 the Vestre Kirkegaard is Scandinavias largest cemetry. Many Copenhageners use Vestre Kirkegaard to let the thoughts out of mind for a while.

Vestre Kirkegaard was inaugurated in 1870 and has a wide variety of grave types with both Catholic, Muslim, Faroese and Greenlandic sections. There's also a special section reserved for members of the Salvation Army.

Over the years, many famous Danes have found their final resting place here. Moreover you can see graves with British soldiers from 1. and 2. World Wars, Roman Catholic section
