In the meadows between Brabrand and Skibby near Aarhus you can enjoy the Årslev Engsø. The lake was created in 2003. The water of the lake comes from the rivers Aarhus Å and Lyngbygårds Å and have now free access to the bottom of the river valley.
The Årslev Engsø area has been cultivated for more than 100 years. The meadows next to Aarhus Å (river) were often flooded in the winter half-year and from time to time it was difficult to gather in the harvest. Therefore the area was artificial drained off in the 1930s and since then cultivation of the fields has been harder over the years because of the wet earth.
