Christian IV's Brewery

Christian IV’s Brewery is one of Copenhagen’s oldest buildings and has been closed for the public for more than 400 years. Now, it is open.

Even though the 8,000 square meter building is mostly known as a brewhouse, the building was originally built by Christian IV as a part of Copenhagen's military fortification.

For a long period of time, the brewhouse was closed to the public. However, now the visitors get a stunning chance to experience the authentic, rustic space that also includes an exciting interaction with reconstructions and sandstone statues.

The brewhouse has now turned into a permanent exhibition space, a so called lapidarium, with a collection of statues and monuments in stone. You can look forward to plaster models, weathered sandstone statues and large equestrian statues, etc.
