The winning Danish entry for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö. “Only Teardrops”, is written by Lise Cabble and Julia Fabrin Jakobsen and produced by Thomas Stengaard. The song was performed by Danish singer Emmelie de Forest, who with her sudden burst unto the Danish music scene has had quite a wild ride. Granted, the 20 year old already has several years of musical experience behind her, among other through her collaborations with Scottish singer-songwriter Frasier Niell, but it wasn't until she won the Danish Melodi Grand Prix 2013 at the end of January she received nationwide recognition. As a duo, Emmelie de Forest/Fraser Niell have performed original material as well as interpretations of songs by artists ranging from Nirvana to Johnny Cash.
Emmelie Charlotte-Victoria de Forest, better known as Emmelie de Forest, is a Danish singer. She was born on 28 February 1993 in Randers and grew up in Mariager. Emmelie currently lives in Copenhagen and she sees herself as a a genuine Copenhagener.
On 26 January 2013 she won the Danish Melodi Grand Prix with the song “Only Teardrops”, and in March she got a record deal with Universal Music. Her first album, “Only Teardrops”, came out in May.
