MUSEUM ØSTJYLLAND - CULTURE-HISTORICAL TIME TRAVEL

The culture-historical Museum Østjylland was founded in 1872, making it one of the oldest and biggest local museums in Denmark. There is changing special exhibitions, fascinating digital exhibitions and activities for children at the museum. The permanent exhibitions tell the story of life in the area from the first inhabitants around 100,000 years ago up to present day.

FROM RUNIC STONE TO "BUHLSKE STUER"

See the runic stone from Mejlby which tells the dramatic tale of a voyage across the sea with images and lights. You can also see paintings in the "Buhlske Stuer", a collection of rooms belonging to an art collector dating from the 1900s with 334 works of art, including 48 etchings by Rembrandt.

DENMARK'S MOST MODERN MEDIEVAL EXHIBITION

Be sure to visit  Denmark's most modern Medieval exhibition, where kids can dress up as nuns, monks, noblemen, knights or cobblers. Try your hand at a Medieval game or explore what lies behind the exhibition's computer screens!

At Mondays, 1st May and 5th June the museum is closed. There is free access to the museum, and the special exhibitions and events can be seen at the website.
