West Zealand: Natural experiences
You will witness a very special light when the weather is clear at Odsherred, a peninsula jutting out into the mouth of Isefjord. From here, you can see beautiful views as far as the eye can see.
Near Havnsø, at the bottom of Nekselø Bay, you find Zealand's largest moorland, Vesterlyng. Vesterlyng is protected, but you can swim at its lovely beach and walk around the parts open to the public.
You can easily access the beautiful and undulating Røsnæs peninsula, north of Kalundborg and hiking paths lead you along the coast’s high cliffs towards a striking lighthouse. Røsnæs is Zealand's westernmost tip.
Hov Vig Nature Reserve
The nature reserve of Hov Vig is located east of Nykøbing S. Explore the area by bike or on foot on the many trails that cross the wetland area, rich in birdlife. The reserve also offers you hides for bird watching.
Lakes and rivers
South of Sorø are the beautiful Tystryp and Bavelse Lakes, situated in an undulating landscape of manor houses, forests and streams. For canoers and anglers, head to Suså, Zealand’s largest river, which is a great spot for both activities. You might even catch a glimpse of the area’s spectacular sea eagles.
