Sea, beach and fjord

Bønnerup Strand
A short trip from Aarhus you'll find white-sand beaches along the Kattegat coast and numerous fjords.

Beaches and coastal inlets

The coastline along the Kattegat is sprinkled with numerous fine sandy beaches, especially around the peninsula of Djursland and Mols and south of Aarhus. The water along the shore is shallow and the sea is calm, making these beaches perfect family destinations. The fjord areas of Horsens and Vejle also provide you with plentiful sheltered beaches, great for tranquil swimming.

Fjord ferries

Denmark’s smallest ferry, and the oldest with a royal seal of approval, takes you across Randers Fjord at various places. It sails at certain times of the day but you can also call for their service. Mellerup-Voer and Udbyhøj are the most-used crossing points. Small ferries depart from Snaptum, at the mouth of Horsens Fjord, to the islands of Hjarnø and Endelave.
