Set in the 1920's Copenhagen, The Danish Girl tells the incredible story of the Danish artist couple Einar and Gerda Wegener. Gerda asks Einar to pose as a ballerina, a moment which catalyzes his transformation into Lili Elbe - the transgender pioneer who became the first person to undergo sex reassignment surgery. The film has already won rave reviews due to stellar performances by Oscar nominated Eddie Redmayne and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander. But according to director Tom Hooper, the film also owes a debt to Copenhagen and its "untouched" city centre. The Danish Girl is in cinemas across the UK now. Tickets on sale here. Copenhagen was just named CIty of The Year 2016 in Wallpaper's Design Awards. Among the judges is Eddie Redmayne, who speaks of his love for the Danish capital.
